What is satellite communication?
We also call satellite as satellite in Hindi and communication as communication. Which means communication through satellite, sending information from one place to another with the help of a satellite located in orbit around the Earth is called satellite communication. We mainly make and use these satellites for communication because only radio and ground wave cannot be used for the entire communication on earth. Most of them are made for satellite communication work.
Let us tell you that to send signals from satellite across the earth, at least 3 satellites are required which are capable of communicating with the help of satellites around the earth. This question may also be coming in your mind that after all. In what kind of communication satellite is useful for us, then let us see some examples which are useful for us every day such as TV, Radio, Mobile phone, internet, GPS, weather information etc.
The satellite through which communication is carried out is called Geostationary Satellite. Geostationary Satellite (GSAT) This is a technology of indigenously developed communication satellites of India which! Used for transmission of digital audio, data and video. As of 5 December 2018, 20 geostationary satellites have been launched, out of which 14 satellites are in service.
How does satellite work?
This question must have come in your mind that how do satellites stay above, then you must have known what is a satellite or what is a satellite, but here the biggest question that comes is how do satellites stay in the air and why do they not fall to the earth. So there is a very simple rule for this, like if something has to stay in space, then it has to keep revolving around a big object at its own speed. Its speed does not allow the gravitational force of the Earth to dominate it. In this communication system, a micro modulated wave is transmitted from the Earth station towards the it. And the satellite receives it and again transmits it to the receiver. Mainly 3 major components are found in it which are important for the satellite communication system.

- Receiver (Antenna installed on other areas of the earth which receives the signal transmitted by the satellites)
Types of Satellites
Satellites are divided into three categories –
Low Earth orbit satellite – These satellites are very close to the Earth’s orbit. Their height ranges from 160 to 1600 kilometres. They revolve around the earth at a very high speed; hence they complete the revolution around the earth several times a day. In such a situation, it takes very less time to scan the earth. It is used for images and scanning.
Medium Earth orbit satellite – These are those satellites which do not rotate very fast or slow. It completes one revolution around the earth in about 12 hours! These satellites passes through a place at a certain time and its altitude ranges from 10,000 kilometers to 20,000 kilometers. These are used for navigation.
High Earth orbit satellites – These are those satellites which are very far from the earth i.e., at a distance of about 36000 kilometers. These satellites revolve around the Earth with the speed of the Earth. That means if this satellite is right above you, it will always remain above you! These satellites are used for communication.
Why are satellites communication so important?
Like birds, satellites can see large areas of the Earth or other planets at once. This means that satellites can collect more data more quickly than the instruments present on the earth. Space can be seen better through it than through any telescope from Earth. Because satellites fly above clouds and dust and molecules present in the atmosphere, which become obstacles when viewed from Earth. Before the advent of it, it was not possible to send signals over long distances.
